Is UniFi Network Application 10.6.106 safe to update?

Released 2026-09-15

Probably yes. Bug fixes and minor features only, per the release notes (MLO fixes, stability, a rare config-save failure fixed). No breaking changes mentioned. The new MLO STR Mesh feature requires UAP firmware 8.8+. Last version that supports the USG.

What users are reporting

2 replies on the official release thread report problems after updating: the Hotspot captive portal on a separate VLAN, and SNMP not being pushed to USW-Enterprise-8-PoE switches. Both are niche setups. Sources: Ubiquiti community forum, reviewed by hand · checked 2026-10-21

Reports are from public issue trackers and forums. Their count isn't a failure rate, and an empty list doesn't prove an update is safe.

⚠️ What breaks

Nothing in the release notes suggests breaking changes. This looks like a bug-fix or minor release. The usual precautions (backup, read notes) still apply.

✅ What to do first

  1. Read the official release notes (linked in “What breaks”).
  2. Back up config and data (snapshot the VM/volume if you can).
  3. Note the version you are on now, so you can roll back.
  4. Update, then check logs and core functions before walking away.

↩️ How to roll back to 10.6.101

Before updating: Settings → System → Backups → Download a backup (.unf), and enable scheduled cloud/auto backups. UniFi consoles have no one-click downgrade: to roll back, install the previous Network version (self-hosted: the 10.6.101 package; on UniFi OS: Settings → Control Plane → Updates/Applications, or SSH with a compatible package) and restore the .unf from before the update. Backups from a newer version can’t be restored into an older one, so the pre-update backup is the one that matters. Major 11.x moves to a new database, so keep the 10.x backup.
