Yes, with care. Feature release that migrates the IDS/IPS engine (Suricata 6 to 8) in the background and has firmware requirements for new features. Expect IPS to be unavailable for a while after the update. Back up first.
⚠️ What breaks
Nothing explicitly breaking is flagged, but the notes mention migrations, deprecations or larger changes. Most setups upgrade fine. Back up first and update when you have time to check.
From the release notes
- Added migration support from Suricata 6 to Suricata 8 (requires UniFi OS 5.1.20+). The upgrade may take up to 1 hour after updating; on busy consoles it is skipped and offered manually in CyberSecure settings.
- Test & Confirm requires UniFi OS 5.1.12+; Link Debounce requires USW 7.5.4+.
✅ What to do first
- Read the official release notes (linked in “What breaks”).
- Back up config and data (snapshot the VM/volume if you can).
- Note the version you are on now, so you can roll back.
- Update, then check logs and core functions before walking away.
↩️ How to roll back
Before updating: Settings → System → Backups → Download a backup (.unf), and enable scheduled cloud/auto backups. UniFi consoles have no one-click downgrade: to roll back, install the previous Network version (self-hosted: the <previous version> package; on UniFi OS: Settings → Control Plane → Updates/Applications, or SSH with a compatible package) and restore the .unf from before the update. Backups from a newer version can’t be restored into an older one, so the pre-update backup is the one that matters. Major 11.x moves to a new database, so keep the 10.x backup.
